Stephen is an associate in the family law department of Pearson Butler where he focuses primarily in complex financial divorces, child custody, and other family law matters. Stephen is a licensed member of both the Nevada State Bar and the Utah State Bar. While practicing in Nevada, Stephen cultivated a reputation for zealous and effective advocacy for his clients. He amassed substantial trial experience, participating in over twenty (20) trials while in Nevada and further arguing hearings before virtually every family court justice in Southern Nevada, and even participating in evidentiary proceedings in Federal Court.

This breadth of experience allows Stephen to give tailored and strategic advice to ensure you receive the most favorable outcome under the circumstances. Stephen believes that the best results are obtained when a thorough strategic plan is developed at the beginning of any case, and then executed in a manner few are able to do. Whether this is through aggressive negotiation, litigation, or even by pushing proceedings through trial, Stephen will ensure that the strategy best fits your case, and is explained to you early in the case.

Stephen was raised in Provo, Utah. Stephen graduated from Brigham Young University, with a degree in political science. He received his Juris Doctor from the J. Rueben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, graduating with honors. While in law school, Stephen had the pleasure of serving as an intern for the Honorable Kent Dawson of the Federal District Court of Nevada and the Honorable Clark Waddoups of the Federal District Court of Utah. Stephen is a member of the Nevada State Bar – Family Law Section, the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the J. Reuben Clark Law Society.

Stephen, his wife Miriam, and their two (2) children are proud to call Utah their home. When not representing his clients, Stephen enjoys spending time with his family and friends, attending sporting events, and playing golf.
