Utah Attorney Discusses Utah Bankruptcy Filing Statistics for September 2013

September bankruptcy filings statistics show a decrease in bankruptcy filings, when comparing September 2013 filings with September 2012.  The United States Bankruptcy Court, District of Utah, provides monthly Utah bankruptcy filing updates.  See http://www.utb.uscourts.gov/.  The bankruptcy court breaks down bankruptcies filings as Utah Chapter 7 bankruptcy, Utah Chapter 13 bankruptcy, Utah Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and Utah Chapter 12 bankruptcy filings.

Filings through September 30, 2013 decreased by 10% compared with filings through September 30, 2012.

As noted by the bankruptcy court, filing statistics for September 30, 2013 decreased by 10% from filings in September 30, 2012.

The graph shows the following bankruptcy filing trend from the months August and September 2013: Chapter 7 bankruptcy filings decreased from 905 to 775, Chapter 13 bankruptcy filings decreased from 404 to 347, Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings increased from 5 to 7, and Chapter 12 bankruptcy filings increased from 0 to 1.   Moreover, each month of YR 2013 has had less bankruptcy filings than during the same months of YR 2012.
